Your Role on the Team

* Uses professional bioinformatics concepts.* Applies computational procedures to resolve a variety of analysis and research issues.* Works on assignments of moderate scope where analysis of data requires a review of a variety of factors.* Assists in additional analyses as needed to achieve research objectives.* Application Design and Deployment: Lead the design, development, data automation, and deployment of complex research databases, particularly in the field of academic research. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create cloud-based networks for efficient research data sharing. * Mpstruc Database Management: Administer and optimize Mpstruc database environments, with a focus on ensuring data integrity, security, and high availability. Implement automated backup and recovery solutions as necessary. * System Security and Compliance: Develop and enforce robust security measures, including role-based access control and compliance protocols. Work closely with UCI system administrators to support disaster recovery planning and execution. * Performance Optimization: Conduct regular database performance tuning and optimization, including schema design and data extraction processes to enhance workflow efficiency and data integration between databases and data servers.

Pay Rate: $60/hr - Part Time
Required:

  • Working knowledge of bioinformatics methods and data structures.
  • Working knowledge of applications programming and web development.
  • Working knowledge of databases.
  • Working project management skills.
  • Working knowledge of modern biology and applicable field of research.
  • Interpersonal skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
  • Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Self motivated, able to learn quickly, meet deadlines and demonstrate problem solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of application and data security concepts.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • A minimum of 5 years of Relevant Experience
  • Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English
